A slice of vanilla heaven…

Vanilla Slice.  Yep, there is a lot of it around & you can buy it at any decent bakery, but Just Fine Foods in Sorrento Main Street is home to the best vanilla slice on the peninsula.

I am both fructose & lactose intolerant, so to be honest, vanilla slice is not the ideal choice…

But here’s the irony… this delectable vanilla slice and I came into this world at the same time, and I even had the delight of living above Just Fine Foods for the first year of my life, so I felt like I really owed it to myself to have a little taste.

After ordering my slice and not a spare seat in sight, we wandered next door opting for a bottle of wine with a view at the Continental Hotel

I excitedly tucked into this delicious treat …with its creamy pillow like texture that melts in your mouth, the crisp lightly puffed pastry and a surprise layer of sweet jam at the bottom, this vanilla slice is simply divine!

25 minutes later, I had enjoyed this yummy treat so much that I decided to share the love and grab a couple more for my family, only to find that in such a short space of time nearly half the tray was gone! One thing was clear: This dessert is hot property and seemed to be flying out the door…

From what I can gather, Just Fine Foods also sell other pastries, serve coffee and offer a very friendly service with a smile.

So next time you’re in Sorrento, just passing by or perhaps even have a craving for sweets, jump in the car and get yourself one of these beauties, I’m sure you won’t regret it!
