An Industrial Brew…
I will agree, that an industrial park is not the obvious choice when looking for a feed and a few quiet beers, but Mornington Peninsula Brewery located out the back of Mornington has convinced me otherwise!
We ventured down on what happened to be the 4th Thursday of the month – also known as ‘Vinyl Night’ – when the record player is dusted off mixing up some ‘old skool’ tunes along side the buzzing vibe of the brewery.
With two levels and a spacious beer garden we managed to snag the last seats in the house (you can’t book for small groups, so get in earlyish) pulling up some comfy mis-matched single seaters and settling in for the night. The brewery naturally had an industrial feel, with the vats on display behind the well worked bar and fired up pizza oven.
For those who know me, I am definitely not the go-to-girl for advice when it comes to beer, so to make sure my facts were correct I took along an ale expert to sample the brew… He tried the Pale Ale & Witbier which were light and refreshing (perfect for the upcoming months) & The Brown which had a little more depth and a smooth texture.

We ordered three pizzas to share (about $15 each) which were delivered to the tables on wooden boards straight from the oven, abundant with toppings managing to hit the spot perfectly! Another added bonus for all those gluten free lovers out there is that you don’t have to miss out…If you can get past the embarrassment of whipping a pizza base out of your bag at the bar (yes, I did it) then you too get to enjoy the delicious food on offer.
The brewery is open Thursday to Sunday with opening hours varying, so check the website for details here.
So next time you have a free Saturday/Sunday afternoon or are perhaps looking for a low key dinner with friends, don’t forget about this hidden gem… stop by and check it out whilst enjoying a few casual ales & some yummy pizzas with a difference.
