T’Gallant We Go…

T'Gallant 1

With so many fantastic wineries to explore on the Mornington Peninsula, it can often be a tough call on where to go… But T’Gallant in Main Ridge is, like many of the other locals, a personal favourite and with vino that is yet to disappoint, you will often find me leaving with a case in tow.

There is something special about this dreamy vineyard …I am not sure whether it is the delicate outlook onto the vibrantly green vines, the light breeze that can be felt floating across the valley or the long rustic tables, perfect for sipping on wine over a woodfire pizza with friends… but whatever it is, T’Gallant have managed to make you feel welcome the moment you step foot in the vineyard.

T’Gallant has both La Barraca Trattoria which offers a more formal eating experience with entree, main and dessert, as well as the option to grab a bite from the Spuntino Bar, where pizzas and antipasto platters top the menu in a more casual setting.

However, my favorite part of this beautiful venue is by far the cellar door…

The friendly staff are always quick to assist, taking your tasting palate on a journey through the wide range that they have on offer.

Whilst I appreciate that wine can be a very personal choice, a few of my favourite T’Gallant treasures are…

  • The original Pinot Grigio “Grace” (2009):  A great choice for summer, with a fresh crisp and fruity taste that is not too overpowering.
  • Ophelia Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay (2005) : A clean cut glass of bubbles that is not too sweet and not to dry.
  • T’Gallant Romeo Red (2008): A rich, deep flavour and strong muscat scent with some serious bite to it.

And of course the ‘Juliet’ range – with the beautiful love heart rose symbol where you have the choice of….

  • Pinot Grigio
  • Pinot Nior
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Moscato

T’Gallant also offer live music (generally on the weekends, public holidays and peak times) and have an upcoming event on the 21st of January, 2012 where Sergio Ercole will be performing latin and 50’s jazz… You can find more information on the website! Click here to be redirected…

So why not take a drive (even if you are in Melbourne) these summer holidays and make your way down to T’Gallant for the day, where you can laze amongst the vines, appreicate the view, sample the wines and snack on the yummy pizzas…

Go on, enjoy…
